FAQ’s

What is Naltrexone?

Naltrexone is medication for treating alcohol use disorder (AUD). The American Medical Association (AMA) recommends naltrexone in their guide for physicians, saying "Naltrexone blocks the euphoric effects of alcohol and feelings of intoxication and allows patients to reduce alcohol use by removing the perceived 'reward' of consumption." Naltrexone is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help people stop drinking or cut back on drinking, as well as to reduce alcohol cravings.

Can Choose Your Horizon help even if I'm not an "alcoholic?"

Yes. Although alcoholism is still a commonly used term, Alcohol Use Disorder is the more modern medical terminology for an inability to stop or control alcohol use despite negative health, social or professional consequences. Choosse Your Horizon allows people who want to drink less or quit to connect with a licensed medical professional who can diagnose AUD, recommend treatment options, and prescribe medication proven to help people drink less or quit if medically appropriate.

How effective is online alcohol treatment?

Online treatment is equally, if not more, effective than most forms of in-person treatment. Medication, coaching, and most necessary forms of medical support can be conducted virtually without any reduction in quality. In fact, the greater ease of access can make people more likely to stick with treatment.

How soon will I see clinician after purchasing?

We aim to see all new patients within a few days of purchasing a program. Once approved, the medication will ship immediately and takes 3-5 days to arrive.

How much does it cost?

We like to keep things simple. After you complete the online assessment you'll choose a quarterly, bi-annual or annual plan and only pay $50 today to see your clinician. Once approved for your treatment plan you'll pay one of the following:

Quarterly - $237.00
Bi-annual - $354.00 (saves $240)
Annual - $599.00 (saves $349)

This includes medication, shipping and clinician consultations.
